Megan Williams...
is from Columbia, South Carolina. As a young child she took a few dance classes, but quit after 3 years. As a high school-er, Megan fell in love with ballet and wanted to start taking classes again. Assuming that there were not any beginner level classes for older students, she gave up on her dream. However, when she attended college at Appalachian State University she was able to enroll in a beginning ballet class for two semesters. Later, she transferred to Clemson University and was a part of the Clemson Dancers, taking both jazz and ballet. But it was not until she attended graduate school in Columbia, South Carolina that she began her “true dance training.” She danced under the instruction of Cynthia Dewar at SC Christian Dance Theater, becoming a company member and performing in two major productions. After 2 amazing years with SC Christian Dance Theater Megan wanted to get more intensive training. decided to enroll at The Southeastern School of Ballet, where she was instructed in ballet, modern, pointe, pilates, and character dance by Gabor Toth and Hilary Krieger-Toth for another 1 ½ years. Megan not only loves to dance, but believes that dance should have a bigger purpose: to help others, promote positive messages, and most importantly spread the message of Christ. She has a MA in Clinical Counseling from Columbia International University and plans on pursuing a certification in Dance Therapy, so she can use her passion for dance to help others. Megan is extremely excited and honored to be a part of Refuge and cannot wait to see the amazing things God has in store for us this season! |
